Hieu told Duy that he had stayed at a motel on Ngoc Ha Street. The motel owner, T, was elderly and often wore a lot of gold jewelry. Hieu observed that T managed the motel alone in a deserted alley with no security camera system. Hieu and Duy arranged to meet at the bus station on Ni Street, Trung Gia Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi to rob together.

At around 2:00 p.m. on April 23, Hieu and Duy went to Mrs. T's motel to observe and saw that the motel owner still had the habit of wearing a lot of gold on her body. The two of them "pretended" to be guests renting the motel and chatted intimately with the owner to distract her. After being guided to the room by Mrs. T, the two of them checked in and waited for the opportunity to strike.

At around 7:30 p.m. the same day, when all the guests had checked out, Hieu told Duy to invite Mrs. T to his room, using the excuse of checking the broken water pipe. When Mrs. T had just entered the room and reached the bathroom, Duy suddenly used an electric baton on her, causing her to fall to the floor.
Mrs. T got up and tried to run away, but Duy pulled her back, used an electric baton on her, tied her up, and covered her mouth so she couldn't scream. Hieu robbed all the gold jewelry Mrs. T was wearing. At the same time, he also robbed Mrs. T's iPhone 16 Promax.
Before leaving, they used a bed sheet to tie Mrs. T's legs and hands to avoid the victim's screams. At the same time, they erased all traces left at the crime scene and threw the electric baton into the Red River while fleeing across Nhat Tan Bridge. Afterwards, Hieu and Duy divided the gold in half and sold it at gold trading establishments in Tuyen Quang and Soc Son district. The total amount of money the two subjects earned from selling gold was more than 1.4 billion VND.
After struggling and escaping, Ms. T went to Doi Can Ward Police to report. Upon receiving the information, realizing the reckless and daring nature of this group of robbers, the Ba Dinh Area Team and the Major Crimes Team (Criminal Police Department) coordinated with Doi Can Ward Police to quickly investigate, verify, and collect evidence.

According to Ms. T's report, the total value of the stolen gold was about 1,781 billion VND. Through investigation and tracing, the police force identified the two main perpetrators, Nguyen Trung Hieu and Nguyen Viet Duy. Using professional measures, on April 26 and 27, the Investigation Agency successively arrested Duy and Hieu.
Currently, the Hanoi City Police Department has initiated a criminal case, issued an order to detain people in emergency cases, an order to arrest people in emergency cases, and criminally detained Nguyen Viet Duy and Nguyen Trung Hieu for robbery.
During the investigation, the two suspects confessed that before committing the crime, Duy and Hieu had entered a gold shop in Soc Son district to rob property but failed because there were too many people coming to buy and sell jewelry.
