Arrest of suspect in rape and murder of 65-year-old woman
Knowing that Mrs. Ph. was alone at night, Tam broke into the house, killed her, and then raped her.
On May 17, Tay Ninh Provincial Police announced that the Criminal Police Department had just arrested suspect Nguyen Minh Tam (26 years old, residing in Don Thuan Commune, Trang Bang District, Tay Ninh Province) to investigate the acts of murder and rape. The victim was Ms. Ph. (65 years old, residing in Go Dau District, Tay Ninh).

Mrs. Ph. lives in the family's ancestral house in Don Thuan commune with her younger brother. During the day, her younger brother stays with Mrs. Ph., and at night, he returns to his own house in Hoa Thanh.
On the morning of May 15, the younger brother went to the family temple as usual but did not see Mrs. Ph. He went to look for her and found Mrs. Ph. lying dead in the bathroom area, with many wounds on her body, so he reported it to the police.
Upon receiving the report, the Criminal Police Department coordinated with other professional units to immediately go to the scene to conduct an investigation and collect evidence. After nearly a day of searching for the suspects, at 11pm on May 15, the police raided Tam's house and urgently arrested this subject to serve the investigation.
According to Tam's statement, knowing that Ms. Ph. was alone at night, Tam intended to rape her. On the evening of May 14, Tam broke into her house and strangled her. Ms. Ph. resisted, so Tam used force to attack her until she died and then raped her.
After committing the crime, Tam returned home and lived normally but could not get past the investigation agency. It is known that Tam has a previous conviction for robbery and completed his prison sentence in 2016.
The incident is under further investigation.
