Many people are surprised to know that there are old people who live a simple life, even begging and seem to be poor all their lives, but they own a huge amount of property. This is not only in Vietnam but there are many surprising cases in the world.
The old beggar lost 25 taels of gold.
A robbery of an old beggar in Dong Thap in 2015 surprised many people because he owned a respectable fortune. After the robbery, Mr. Nguyen Van Cung (86 years old, Tan Hong district) reported having 25 taels of gold in his pocket.

According to the authorities, due to family conflicts, Mr. Cung left home to live a vagrant life and often begged at markets in Dong Thap. He used all the money he earned to buy gold and carried it with him.
Lonely old man left 50 taels of gold
In 2012, Mrs. Pham Thi Hien (82 years old), living alone in a dilapidated shack in Da Lat, suddenly died, leaving behind 50 taels of gold. Mrs. Hien's sudden passing left not only the hospital but also the authorities confused and embarrassed because of the valuable assets she left behind.

The elderly woman, known as Eisha, amassed a fortune worth 3 million riyals ($800,000) across four homes. Some families living in Eisha’s homes say she never asked for rent.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Saeedi, a close childhood friend of Ms. Eisha, said most of the money was saved by Ms. Eisha from when she went begging with her mother and sister, both of whom have passed away.
