Defender Nguyen Sy Nam was born in 1993, in the same generation as the talented players Ngoc Hai, Manh Hung, Sy Sam... After being called up to the Vietnam U19 team in 2012, he and his teammates were promoted to the first team to practice in 2013, but in the early days of becoming a professional player, Sy Nam could not find a place and arrived at V. Ninh Binh in the second leg of V.League 2014.
In the 2015 season, SLNA's full-back position became crowded with Dinh Hoang, Dinh Dong, and Sy Nam having to move to XSKT Can Tho on loan. During his time playing for the Western capital team in V.League 2015, Sy Nam played 11 matches and excellently completed the task assigned by coach Vu Quang Bao, contributing to helping XSKT Can Tho successfully stay in the league.

Returning to training to prepare for V.League 2016, Sy Nam once again missed the V.League playground due to the huge competition in the Nghe An team's defense. Finally, the defender from Anh Son once again packed his bags and joined Ho Chi Minh City Club to look for opportunities. After a successful season and helping Ho Chi Minh City Club get promoted to V.League 2017, defender Nguyen Sy Nam was called back by the Nghe An team to prepare for the new season.
That was the season that coach Nguyen Duc Thang gave Sy Nam many opportunities because defender Tran Dinh Hoang suffered a long-term injury. The player from Anh Son played 16 matches, but at the end of that season, the Nghe An team only ranked 8th overall and Sy Nam's mark was the matches at the 2017 National Cup, the tournament where SLNA won the championship.
After his senior Dinh Hoang recovered from his injury and returned to play, Sy Nam's opportunities were limited and he only played 3 matches in the entire 2018 season. Although he did not play regularly and only played a supporting role at SLNA, this player was given a 3-year contract by the Nghe An team.

In the 2019 season, Sy Nam only had 2/6 matches to enter the field from the start. Because besides Dinh Hoang, SLNA still has other excellent right-backs such as Xuan Manh, Dinh Dong... In fact, Sy Nam's ability in training tournaments is very trustworthy, but just because of psychological weakness, that excellence is not shown in official matches.
Entering the 2020 season, when Dinh Hoang arrived at SHB Da Nang, Sy Nam was immediately given a chance by coach Quang Truong. Because among SLNA's right-backs, Sy Nam is a player with many years of experience in the V.League and in training sessions, the player born in 1993 performed very well. In the match against Saigon FC, the opening match, Sy Nam did his job quite well. Throughout the match, he only had one situation where he left his position, causing SLNA's defense to be in a state of alarm.
In the second match of V.League against B. Binh Duong, Sy Nam's statistics were extremely impressive. The right-back had the most touches of the ball in SLNA with 90 touches, a success rate of 71%. Accordingly, Sy Nam made 45/65 accurate passes (69%) and the number of offensive passes was 36/55.
