Luong Manh Hai made the audience unrecognizable when he transformed into the role of a dark-skinned and gambling farmer father in the new movie. |
Sharing about the film When I'm Home, director Vu Ngoc Dang said he made a film about family and fatherhood because this is a topic that never gets old, has many aspects to exploit and easily touches the emotions of many people. "This is my simplest film in terms of story and storytelling. Through the story of father and son, I just want to send a very simple message that I always remember: Having a place to return to is home. Having people to love is family. Having both is happiness," he said.
In Vu Ngoc Dang's project, Luong Manh Hai not only participated in writing the script and producing, but also took on the male lead role, a farmer father. Talking about the decision to challenge himself with a different role, Luong Manh Hai excitedly said: "This is the role where I am the most "different from myself". But the significant change here is not that I changed from "bright white" to "dark", but it is the first time I get to... be a father on film. Although in fact this father is very "crazy" and "crazy". Instead of teaching his children, he is taught by his children, like, "If the father is naughty, the son will teach". Being a farmer and a father is an experience that is both surprising and interesting beyond my imagination".

The actor confided that he had a memorable experience while playing the role. |
When You Are Home is also Vu Ngoc Dang's first film to have a child actor as the main character throughout the work. During the casting process, Vu Ngoc Dang did not know whether he would choose a boy or a girl to play Luong Manh Hai's child. In the end, he chose Duy Anh after being introduced by Director of Photography Tran Dang Thai. When rehearsing a few heavy psychological scenes, Duy Anh completely conquered Vu Ngoc Dang. He said: "At that time, I just knew that this boy had acted in many films, so his professionalism was much higher than the other candidates. When he went to the filming set, Duy Anh showed that even more clearly. The whole crew did not feel like they had to work with a child. Duy Anh grasped psychology and memorized lines quickly, did not complain about being tired or exhausted, and had a lot of energy. I hope that this smart and lovely boy will make an impression when the audience watches the film."
