Arrested maid suspected of stealing 100 taels of gold from homeowner
While the homeowner was away, the maid stole a large amount of gold hidden in the homeowner's cupboard to spend for herself.
On May 13, the Criminal Police Department (PC45) of Can Tho City Police announced that it had detained Le Hong Thao (39 years old, residing at 9/31, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, An Cu Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) to investigate and clarify the act of property theft.

Previously, on the evening of May 12, the police quickly searched Thao's residence and seized many exhibits related to property theft such as 273 million VND in cash, 1.7 taels of 24K gold; 0.6 taels of 18K gold, 1 AirBlade motorbike, loan book...
Initially through the struggle, Thao admitted to the act of stealing property.
Le Hong Thao is the niece of Mr. NHD's wife (54 years old, residing at 83 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), and is also a housekeeper for Mr. D's family. A few months ago, when the homeowner's family was away, while cleaning, Thao stole a large amount of gold wrapped in plastic bags and stored on top of a cupboard in the kitchen.
After stealing the gold, Thao put it in a garbage bag, put it in the basket of her bicycle, and brought it home to hide. After that, Thao divided the gold and sold it for nearly 1 billion VND to spend on personal expenses, buying expensive appliances and motorbikes...

On April 4, after discovering the loss of property, Mr. D's family reported to the police, claiming that 100 taels of SJC gold had been stolen, which had been the couple's savings for many years.
However, Le Hong Thao confessed to taking 30 taels of gold from Mr. D. The case is currently being investigated by the authorities.
