Former chief accountant of environmental company arrested for falsifying salary
Ms. Ma Thi Thu Hang (former chief accountant) was arrested on charges of falsely paying workers' salaries to embezzle more than 400 million VND.
On the afternoon of March 13, Cao Bang Provincial Police announced that the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police had issued a decision to prosecute the accused, a search warrant for her residence and an arrest warrant for temporary detention against Ms. Ma Thi Thu Hang, 51 years old (former chief accountant of Cao Bang Investment, Development and Environment Company Limited) for the crime of embezzlement of property, as prescribed in Article 353 of the Penal Code.

The investigation agency accused Ms. Hang of abusing her position and power from 2012 to 2016 to declare and pay false salaries, materials, goods, etc. to embezzle over 400 million VND.
Ms. Ma Thi Thu Hang is the fifth defendant prosecuted by the provincial police investigation agency in connection with the above-mentioned embezzlement case. Previously, on December 22, 2021, the Cao Bang Provincial People's Procuracy approved the decision to prosecute and order the temporary detention of Mr. Chu Van Bac (64 years old, residing in Cao Bang city), former Chairman and Director of Cao Bang Investment, Development and Environment Company Limited for the crime of ""Embezzlement of property".
According to the initial investigation results, Mr. Bac took advantage of his position and authority to falsify the number of workers to pay salaries and then appropriate assets. In addition, Mr. Bac also committed many violations in the process of managing investment in construction of projects invested by Cao Bang Investment Development and Environment Company Limited, causing loss of state assets.
The case is under further investigation.
