Arrested a group specializing in stealing motorbikes stored at hospitals and acquaintances' houses waiting to be sold
(Baonghean.vn) - To avoid detection by car owners and authorities, car thieves remove license plates and leave them at hospitals or at the homes of acquaintances. They then look for buyers in the northern and southern provinces, transact on social networks, and deliver the cars to buyers through transportation services.
On November 9, 2020, Vinh City Police, Nghe An Province announced that the unit had just broken up a case and arrested a group of people with the behavior ofmotorbike theftprofessional in the area. The total value of the motorbikes these subjects stole is estimated at over 600 million VND.
Recently, through the work of grasping the situation, Vinh City Police discovered that in Vinh City, neighboring districts such as Dien Chau, Nghi Loc and some localities in Nghi Xuan district, Hong Linh town (Ha Tinh), there were many motorbike thefts. The perpetrators took advantage of the subjectivity and lack of vigilance of the people and targeted high-value motorbikes such as Honda, SH, Yamaha, Exciter... parked in areas with few people passing by, without the vehicle owner's guard to commit property theft, with extremely professional methods.
Determining that this could be a professional and organized motorbike theft gang, after having a firm grasp of the situation and consolidating relevant documents, the Criminal Police Team of Vinh City Police established a special project to fight and destroy it.

After many days of monitoring, using professional measures, the Task Force identified two subjects: Ho Viet Truong (born in 1997) and Nguyen Van Son (born in 2000), both residing in Hamlet 9, Nghi Dien Commune, Nghi Loc District, as the subjects who committed the above mentioned thefts. These subjects are unemployed and have many unclear relationships with bad subjects inside and outside the area. In particular, Ho Viet Truong has a previous conviction for the crime ofExtortionAfter returning to his hometown after being released from prison, Truong did not work hard but was often absent from home, colluding with and interacting with people who showed signs of theft in Vinh city and neighboring areas.
On November 8, through professional measures, the detectives obtained information that the two subjects would sell the stolen motorbikes, and the Task Force decided to crack the case. Accordingly, Vinh City Police deployed forces, sent detectives to continuously monitor the movements of the subjects, and at the same time arranged working groups to carry out many plans to block and intercept the subjects...
At 4 p.m. the same day, in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, the task force discovered and caught Ho Viet Truong and Nguyen Van Son red-handed while they were selling stolen motorbikes. The authorities also seized 8 Yamaha Exciter motorbikes (without license plates) from the suspects.

At the Investigation Agency, the subjects initially showed a stubborn attitude, refusing to admit their crimes. However, through professional measures and evidence and documents, both subjects clearly confessed their crimes. Initially, these subjects confessed that, by using the trick of connecting the vehicle's electric lock through a plug, from July 2020 to now, the two subjects have successfully carried out 15 vehicle thefts in Vinh City, neighboring districts and some districts in Ha Tinh province. The total value of the motorbikes that these subjects stole is estimated at over 600 million VND.
Currently, the case is being further investigated by Vinh City Police.
