Arresting a group of people who specialize in breaking donation boxes and stealing property in temples and pagodas
(Baonghean.vn) - Within 4 months, these subjects committed 14 thefts, including many cases of breaking into safes and donation boxes at temples and pagodas.
Do Luong District Police have just initiated a case and prosecuted three suspects: Nguyen Cong Thang (born in 1990, residing in Hamlet 2, Thai Son Commune, Do Luong District); Dao Van Bien (born in 1990, residing in Van Quang Hamlet, Minh Son Commune, Do Luong District) and Nguyen Cong Ly (born in 1990, residing in Hamlet 5, Thai Son Commune, Do Luong District) for theft of property.

Police determined that between October 2019 and January 2020, the three subjects committed 14 thefts in Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, Nam Dan, Yen Thanh, and Tan Ky districts.
Previously, in early January 2020, Do Luong District Police received a report that the donation box at Dien Nha Vy in Thong Nhat hamlet, Dong Son commune, Do Luong district had been broken into by thieves and the entire amount of money inside, which was 2 million VND. Three days later, at Bau Co temple in Hien Son commune, thieves also broke into the donation box and took away 10 million VND.
Identifying that the thefts at sacred temples and pagodas caused public outrage, the District Police established Project 120T to fight against them. By January 18, the Project Team had arrested the three suspects.
At the police station, the subjects confessed that from October 2019 to January 2020, they used a pry bar to break into donation boxes and safes in temples and pagodas, committing 14 thefts in Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, Nam Dan, Yen Thanh, and Tan Ky districts with a total amount of 35 million VND.
