On July 27, the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (PC45) of Ho Chi Minh City Police arrested a group of subjects specializing in "property robbery" and "snatching property".

The four arrested subjects include Nguyen Ngoc Nhan (21 years old, residing in Tan Phu District), Trinh Van Quoc (34 years old, residing in Binh Tan District), Tu Dat Minh (commonly known as "Quay", 20 years old, residing in Tan Phu District) and Doan Hoang Hiep (31 years old, residing in District 11) to investigate the acts of "property robbery" and "snatching property". Nhan was identified as the ringleader.

According to the investigation records, on the afternoon of May 17, at an eyeglass store on To Hien Thanh Street (Ward 14, District 10), Ms. Vu Thi Hang (23 years old) was robbed of her iPhone 6 by a young man pretending to buy glasses.

During the struggle, the robber ran away with the stolen phone to a motorbike of an accomplice who was waiting with the engine running. While chasing and shouting, Ms. Hang pulled the two robbers and the motorbike down onto the road. Seeing this, the people around rushed to help.

Panicked, the two robbers left the Vision motorbike with license plate number 59F1 451.56 at the scene, got on their accomplice's motorbike and escaped with the stolen phone.

Based on the information provided by the victim, PC45 Department coordinated with District 10 police to urgently investigate. Initially, the police identified the vehicle left behind by the robber as belonging to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien (born in 1994, residing in District 3) - a victim who was also robbed.

According to Ms. Lien, on the morning of May 17, she was approached by four robbers on a motorbike who used electric batons to shock her, causing her to fall. When she tried to shout, they pulled out machetes and threatened to slash her. Too scared by the act, Ms. Lien remained silent.

Through information from the victims and cameras, PC45 detectives quickly found clues and narrowed down the suspect.

As expected, when the subject went hunting on Tan Hoa canal (Tan Phu district), he was arrested by detectives and taken to headquarters. There, the subject confessed that Nhan and his accomplices had committed many robberies, including the two cases mentioned above.

Immediately afterwards, the police captured Nhan's accomplices including Quoc, Minh, and Hiep along with two homemade machetes and two motorbikes related to the robbery.

At the police station, the gang also confessed to committing three other robberies in May 2016.

Accordingly, at noon on May 5, Nhan pretended to be a delivery man and pulled out a knife to control a girl in Binh Tri Dong Ward (Binh Tan District) so that he and his accomplices could rob 2 sets of ximen bracelets, 1 gold ring, 1 necklace, 1 Samsung S6 phone and 1 Vespa Piagio with license plate 59K1-744.13. After that, they parked the motorbike at Binh Tan Hospital's parking lot and sold other assets to get money to share and spend on crystal meth.

The police are currently searching for Bao (Nhan's accomplice) who is currently on the run.
