Arrested a group of people who extorted 5 billion VND from a district vice chairman
At least 4 people were prosecuted to investigate the act of extorting 5 billion VND.
The 4 people arrested include 3 people from Hoang Thinh commune, Hoang Hoa district (Thanh Hoa) and 1 person residing in Hanoi.
These people were arrested to investigate the crime of “extortion of property”. The above decisions were approved by the People’s Procuracy at the same level.
Initial information, on May 12, some strangers came to the office of Mr. Ho Dinh Tung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tinh Gia district (now Nghi Son town) to meet and ask for advice on compensation for site clearance, buying back expired mine land...
After the exchange, a man took out a notebook with money inside, put it in Mr. Tung's hand and filmed the clip.
The group of people made a clip to blackmail, demanding 5 billion VND. Immediately after that, Mr. Tung filed a complaint with the authorities.
