Arrested a group of motorbike taxi drivers who invited each other to gamble at night

(Baonghean.vn) - Instead of picking up passengers to earn income, a group of motorbike taxi drivers in Quan Hanh town (Nghi Loc district) gamble with each other on gambling mats.

On September 22, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghi Loc District Police issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute 7 suspects: Nguyen Van Minh (born in 1988), Pham Kim Hung (born in 1967), Dang Quang Thong (born in 1974), all residing in Quan Hanh town; Vo Trong Thang (born in 1979), Vo Thanh Minh (born in 1982), both residing in Nghi Trung commune; Nguyen Dinh Son (born in 1973), Pham Dinh Hong (born in 1981), all residing in Nghi Dien commune for gambling.

Four of the eight gamblers are being detained at Nghi Loc District Police.

Previously, at 10:30 p.m. on September 17, a patrolling task force of Nghi Loc District Police discovered many people gambling at Nghi Loc District Trade Center in Block 4, Quan Hanh Town.

When the police raided, some of the suspects fled. The rest were arrested, including Nguyen Van Minh, Pham Kim Hung, and Vo Trong Thang.

The subjects gambled in the form of cards. The seized evidence was a deck of cards and 23,490 million VND on the gambling table and on the subjects' persons.

On September 18, realizing that gambling was a violation of the law, the subjects who participated in gambling and fled turned themselves in to the police. They were: Nguyen Dinh Son, Dang Quang Thong, Pham Dinh Hong, Vo Thanh Minh and Dang Van Lanh (born in 1981), residing in Kim Lien hamlet, Quan Hanh town.

Initially, the investigation agency determined that the amount of money the subjects used for gambling was 5 million 290 thousand VND. The remaining amount is being investigated to clarify whether the subjects used it for gambling or not.

As for Dang Van Lanh, he participated in gambling when the amount of money on the table was less than 5 million VND, so according to the law, he was only subject to administrative sanctions.

The gamblers all work as motorbike taxi drivers in Quan Hanh town.

The incident is being investigated by the authorities.
