Arresting the female President of the Town Fatherland Front to investigate embezzlement
In addition to falsifying land allocation documents, the People's Committee of this town also made settlement payments before paying compensation to the people.
On January 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province announced the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Ms. Ho Thi Bich Le - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Phu My town (Phu My district) to investigate the act of "embezzlement of property".
On the same day, the agency also executed a search warrant at Ms. Le's home and office.
According to authorities, Ms. Le's violations were identified when she was working as an accountant at the People's Committee of Phu My town.

Regarding the above case, previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province also issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Bui Duc Tron - a land official of the People's Committee of Phu My Town (Phu My District) for embezzlement of property and lack of responsibility causing serious consequences. On September 17, 2018, Mr. Tron was temporarily detained to continue investigating and clarifying the crime of embezzlement.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province continues to investigate and verify to handle other officials related to this case.
According to the initial investigation conclusion, in the process of implementing the annual land use plan, compensation for land acquisition to build a residential area in 2014 and the eastern route of Phu My market, the Phu My town government (Phu My district) made compensation and settlement in violation of the law, paying money in excess of regulations, causing a loss of more than 1 billion VND to the state budget.
The Phu My District Inspectorate concluded that in 2014, when preparing a land recovery file for residential area planning, Mr. Bui Duc Tron - then a land official of Phu My town - prepared the file himself, then forged the signatures of many residents to receive compensation.
In addition to falsifying land allocation application documents, Phu My Town People's Committee also made settlement payments before paying compensation to the people. Many cases have not signed to receive money on the list but Phu My Town People's Committee included them in the list of those who have paid money to make settlement payments.
The individuals involved in the above violations include: Mr. Nguyen Anh Thu - former Chairman of Phu My Town People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh Ha - Chairman of Phu My Town People's Committee, Mr. Bui Duc Tron - land official of Phu My Town, Ms. Ho Thi Bich Le - former accountant of Phu My Town, Ms. Tran Thi Nu - treasurer of Phu My Town and a number of related officials of Phu My Town.
Therefore, the District Inspectorate has recommended that the Chairman of Phu My District People's Committee recover more than 1 billion VND to the State budget that has been lost. Of which, 645 million VND was compensated against regulations, 416 million VND was settled against regulations and more than 14 million VND was paid in excess of regulations. Of the total amount to be recovered, Mr. Bui Duc Tron is responsible for returning more than 435 million VND and the remaining more than 639 million VND is the responsibility of Ms. Tran Thi Nu.
Phu My District People's Committee determined that this case had signs of the crimes of Embezzlement of property and Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences, as prescribed in the Penal Code, so it transferred the entire case file to the police agency for handling according to the law.
