Northumberland Police said they believed "this was not a terrorist attack."
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said they received information at around 9:15 a.m. the same day (around 3:15 p.m. Vietnam time) that a car had driven onto the pavement outside the Westgate Sports Center and hit a group of worshippers who were leaving after performing prayers marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
The incident injured six people, including three adults and three children, including an eight-year-old boy in critical condition.
According to witnesses, a car parked nearby suddenly accelerated and crashed into a group of believers walking on the sidewalk.
