Caught 2 gas stations installing 6 fraudulent chips

These two gas stations are both managed by Hanoi Fuel Joint Stock Company; one on Tran Khat Chan Street (Hai Ba Trung District) and one in Yen Vien (Gia Lam).

Mr. Hoang Dai Nghia - Captain of Market Management Team No. 14 - Hanoi Market Management Department said that, following the direction of the Department's leaders, the unit coordinated with the Economic Security Department of Hanoi City Police and the local Market Management Team to simultaneously inspect and detect fraud at 2 gas stations on Tran Khat Chan and Yen Vien streets.

The inspection was carried out simultaneously from 9am this morning, December 24, and ended at 1pm the same day. At each gas station, there were 3 pumps, and all 3 pumps were equipped with chips to cheat customers of their gas. In total, the authorities identified and made a record to seal and temporarily seize 6 chips from 6 pumps. "The chips were very sophisticatedly installed, and operated by remote control, directly performed by gas station employees," said the commander of Market Management Team No. 14.

After the incident, the gas station announced "temporary closure".

Currently, the authorities have sealed and requested the temporary suspension of the operations of these two gas stations; at the same time, they have requested the Quality Measurement Standards Agency to intervene to clarify the level of violation as a basis for handling.
