Arrested "super thief" who committed 34 property thefts

On the morning of December 23, the police of Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province announced that they were detaining Vu Van Luyen (23 years old, residing in Quang Binh commune, Quang Xuong district) to investigate the act of property theft.

According to the initial investigation results, on December 15 and 16, Quang Xuong District Police received reports from local residents that the family of Mr. Tran Trong Phuc, in Ninh Du village (Quang Ninh commune) and the family of Mr. Hoang Cong Tuan, in Ngoc Tra 1 village, Quang Trung commune (both in Quang Xuong district) had their homes broken into by thieves who stole property including mobile phones, laptops, watches, and cash, with a total value of stolen property of about 75 million VND.

Receiving information from the people, Quang Xuong District Police concentrated forces, deployed professional measures to investigate and track down suspicious subjects in the area.

After many days of investigation, Quang Xuong District Police have just arrested Vu Van Luyen as the suspect in the two thefts mentioned above.

Working with the police, Luyen confessed to being the perpetrator of two thefts in Quang Ninh and Quang Trung communes. In addition, from 2017 until his arrest, Vu Van Luyen also committed 32 other thefts in Quang Xuong, Nong Cong, Tinh Gia districts and Thanh Hoa city, with the total stolen property including 12 motorbikes, 22 mobile phones, 1 laptop, 1 watch and about 30 million VND in cash.

Up to now, Quang Xuong District Police have recovered 5 motorbikes and many other properties from the above thefts and are investigating and expanding the case.
