The Investigation Police Agency - District 6 Police, Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Truong Manh Thao (born in 1984, urban order officer of Ward 2, District 6) for the crime of“taking advantage of position and power while performing official duties”.
Previously, some people who went to get vaccinated at a primary school on Phan Van Khoe Street, Ward 2, District 6, reported that a group of people were offering prices for Covid-19 vaccinations and making illegal profits at this vaccination site. The incident caused public concern and outrage.

Realizing that there were negative signs from some officers of Ward 2 when they took advantage of their authority and position to collude with each other to gain illegal profits, District 6 Police started an investigation. Thereby, the people's accusations were clarified, Truong Manh Thao and some related people were investigated and clarified.
Initial investigation determined that in the past few months, Thao had colluded with some people to prepare documents and organize for about 20 people to get vaccinated against Covid-19 at 2 vaccination sites in Ward 2, District 6, earning a profit of about 10 million VND. According to regulations, the time for vaccination at vaccination sites in Ward 2, District 6 is for people living and working in the ward, however, Thao and some other subjects brought people who were not residents of the ward to the vaccination sites to prepare documents so that they could get vaccinated at a price of 1-3 million VND.
During the investigation, District 6 Police collected sufficient evidence to determine that Thao had committed the act of "abusing position and power while performing official duties" under Article 356 of the Penal Code. District 6 Police issued a decision to prosecute, searched Thao's residence and workplace, and continued to investigate and clarify the actions of those involved in this case.
