Arresting 'pimp' running prostitution ring
Nguyen Manh Ho established a closed group on Telegram to run a prostitution ring and rented two houses to house the prostitutes.
On July 1, Lao Cai Provincial Police said they had coordinated with relevant units to destroy an inter-provincial prostitution and human trafficking ring of people under 16 years old.
During the investigation, the police discovered many activities of human trafficking under the age of 16 and prostitution brokerage under the guise of massage, karaoke... operated by many suspects for a long time in many provinces and cities, including Lao Cai province.
On June 24, the authorities deployed three reconnaissance teams, conducted surprise raids and discovered three locations with prostitution activities.
During the inspection at Kim Thanh motel in Duyen Hai ward, Lao Cai city, the force discovered 3 couples of men and women engaging in prostitution. At house number 391, Dam Quang Trung street, Duyen Hai ward and house number 553 Dien Bien street, Coc Leu ward, the police discovered 6 prostitutes and 4 people involved in prostitution brokerage.
These people include: Le Van Thanh (born in 1992, residing in Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province); Ha Van Hieu (born in 1999, residing in Tan Son district, Phu Tho province); Hu Viet Trinh (born in 1993, residing in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province) and Nguyen Van Hieu (born in 1994, residing in Van Ban district, Lao Cai province).
The police force rescued 3 victims including: LNTT (born 2008, residing in Lam Dong province); NTYN (born 2007) and TBPN (born 2009), all residing in Hue city.
At the search site, police seized nearly 62 million VND, 2 cars, 3 motorbikes, 9 notebooks and many other objects related to prostitution.
The police summoned two suspects: Ha Thanh Tu (born in 1991, residing in Tan Son commune, Tan Son district, Phu Tho province) and Ha Thi Thu Hang (born in 1992, residing in Huong Chu ward, Huong Tra commune, Thua Thien Hue province).
Immediately afterwards, Lao Cai Provincial Police issued an emergency detention order for Tu and Hang for "trafficking in persons under 16 years old"; and Le Van Thanh, Ha Van Hieu, and Nguyen Van Hieu for "prostitution brokerage".
On June 27, the authorities issued an emergency detention order for Nguyen Manh Ho (born in 1989, residing in Van Linh commune, Thanh Ba district, Phu Tho province).
According to authorities, Ho is the "pimp" in the above prostitution ring.
Previously, around March 2022, Ho rented a house at 391 Dam Quang Trung Street to live in, and at the same time recruited a number of women to work as prostitutes disguised as beer pourers. Through a previous relationship, Ho was transferred by Tu and Hang to 3 prostitutes for 13 million VND.
To manage the network, Ho divided the group of prostitutes into two locations: 391 Dam Quang Trung Street, Duyen Hai Ward and 553 Dien Bien Street, Coc Leu Ward. At the same time, he established a closed group on Telegram to manage the work.
