Authorities seized a car with fake license plates transporting contraband.
(Baonghean)-At approximately 2 PM on April 22nd, the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police received a tip that a black four-seater car was traveling from South to North, carrying a large quantity of wild animals. Upon receiving this information, the task force of PC 67 of the Traffic Police Department immediately deployed a plan to intercept the vehicle.
At approximately 3:30 PM on the same day, a patrol team from Traffic Police Unit 5/1, while patrolling at Km 445 in Nghi Long commune (Nghi Loc district), spotted a car with license plate 29A - 172.60 matching the description in a tip-off. They signaled the driver to stop for a document check. However, instead of stopping, the driver accelerated and sped away for 2km before realizing the road was blocked and turning the car around. Upon turning back, the traffic police surrounded and blocked the car. Suddenly, the driver sped off down a village road to escape, with the police car honking its horn in pursuit. The car finally stopped at Hamlet 1, Nghi Thuan commune (Nghi Loc district), where it reached a river. Two men pushed open the doors and jumped into the river, attempting to swim to the other side to escape. In this situation, Lieutenant Pham Hung Cuong quickly jumped into the river and swam after them. After a struggle, the two suspects finally gave in and obediently returned.

The vehicle carrying the animals fled, taking the animals with it.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 300 kg of pangolins. In addition, numerous license plates with different regional codes were found. The suspect and the seized items were immediately taken to the Mobile Forest Protection and Fire Prevention Team No. 1 (Dien Chau).
Here, the identities of the two suspects were revealed as Nguyen Thanh Chung (born in 1984 - residing in Pho Chau Town, Huong Son District, Ha Tinh Province) and Hoang Duc Trinh (born in 1976 - residing in Hung Nguyen Town, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province).
