In an interview with Politico, President Obama, who remains a strong presence in the Democratic Party, said he did not support any candidate in the party's primary, but admitted he was closely watching who would succeed him.

Analysts say that the kind words he has for his former Secretary of State could score more points for Mrs. Hillary so that the former First Lady of the United States can win the only ticket of the Democratic Party to participate in the race to the White House.

With just a week to go until the Democratic caucuses in Iowa, Hillary Clinton has been trying to tie her campaign closer to the incumbent president and draw more support from Obama supporters.

She argued that while Bernie Sanders pursues laudable goals, some of them are unattainable and the Vermont senator lacks the experience to handle a range of issues./.
