Cambodia National Assembly Election: Hunsen's CPP Party wins overwhelmingly over 19 other parties
Prime Minister Hun Sen's ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won a majority of votes in the parliamentary election held on July 29.
According to Mr. Sok Eysan, spokesman of the Cambodian People's Party, the party won about 80% of the votes and will have at least 100 seats in the National Assembly.

Previously, the National Election Committee (NEC) announced that the election was successful with 82.17% of voters having cast their ballots. This turnout was much higher than the turnout in the 5th National Assembly election held in 2013, with 69.60% of voters casting their ballots.
This election has 20 participating parties. According to the schedule, in case there is no complaint forcing a re-election, the National Election Committee of Cambodia will announce the preliminary results on August 11 and the official results will be announced on August 15.
