Seven CIS member countries hold air defense drills with more than 100 aircraft
On September 27, seven CIS member states began air defense exercises involving 100 aircraft, controlled by the Russian Air Force and Space Forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that at 8:00 a.m. (Moscow time, or 2:00 p.m. Vietnam time), more than 130 command and control stations of 7 CIS countries began performing tasks to perfect coordination skills within the framework of the air defense system.
The exercise began with a simulated situation of detecting enemy targets in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. 100 Su-27, MiG-29, MiG-31, Yak-130 fighters, Su-24, Su-34 bombers, Su-25 attack aircraft, Tu-22, Tu-160, Tu-95 long-range aircraft, Ka-27, Mi-8 helicopters of the Air Forces of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as radio and anti-aircraft missile units were mobilized. The command of air defense forces and means was carried out from the Air-Space Command Center located in Moscow.
Within the framework of the exercise, members will coordinate to carry out air defense operations against aircraft violating national airspace, hijacked aircraft, as well as rescue crews of crashed aircraft.
The aircraft participating in the exercise will conduct support exercises in the airspace of 7 CIS countries to identify aircraft violating airspace, aircraft violating airspace regulations, and hijacked aircraft.
