"Traps" at the school gate
(Baonghean.vn) Nguyen Duy Trinh Street (Vinh City) was upgraded by the City People's Committee (24m wide) and a drainage system was built, but due to unfinished construction, the flooding problem has not been resolved. What's even more concerning is that during heavy rain and high water levels, the manhole right at the entrance of Hung Dung 1 Primary School, which is a meter wide and deep, has its cover half-missing, exposing the empty ditches.
With missing covers, the drainage ditch is clogged with mud and debris, preventing water from draining properly. This causes flooding, dirt, and poses a danger to people and vehicles. A resident in the area said that this wide ditch, located right at the school gate, is very dangerous for parents and students during school hours and dismissal times, becoming a trap that easily causes accidents, especially during the rainy season.
An uncovered manhole cover is located right at the school gate, opposite the ward's People's Committee office, yet for some reason, despite its long existence, it remains uncovered and unrepaired. Recently, a parent's car, dropping their child off at school, got caught in the trap and required the assistance of a tow truck.
