Bayern dominates the nominations for "European Player of the Year 2013".
Champions League champions Bayern Munich have four nominees for the "European Player of the Year 2013" award: Thomas Mueller, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The reigning Champions League champions have four representatives.
The two powerful representatives of La Liga, Barca and Real, only have one representative in the top 10: Leo Messi and Cris Ronaldo. Notably, last year's winner, Andres Iniesta, is absent.
Gareth Bale, currently a hot commodity in the transfer market, is the only player from the United Kingdom on the shortlist. Besides Bale, only one other Premier League player, Manchester United's van Persie, appears in the shortlist of candidates.
In addition, there are other notable names such as Roberto Lewandowski (Dortmund) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG).

The "European Player of the Year" award was established by UEFA in 2011 and is given to the most impressive player in Europe during the past season. Journalists representing member countries vote to select the player with the highest number of points.
UEFA will further narrow down the shortlist to three players on August 6th. The winner will be honored on August 29th in Monaco during the draw for the 2013/14 Champions League group stage.
