Fortunately for the boy's parents, Apple later decided to refund and advised them to turn on parental controls to avoid similar 'accidents'.

According to the BBC, Alfie Dobson, a boy living in Chorley (Lancashire, England), spent a huge amount of money on an unnamed mobile game on the iPad. Alfie's father, Roy, said that he spent 700 pounds (more than 870 USD) in less than 5 minutes, and another 1,100 pounds (1,369 USD) within half an hour. "The money was spent in just one match," said Roy.

Alfie plays games on his iPad at the weekend.

Alfie's mother, Jill, said the family let him play games on the iPad every weekend. "We still have the game linked to our credit card account and allow him to buy items under £1.99 ($2.50). He always asks me when he makes a purchase, but maybe the £99 ($123) makes Alfie curious," said Jill.

Alfie said he pressed the £99 number "a few times", but the actual amount to be paid was £6,000, leaving the Dobson family "shocked".

TronAt that time, Apple said it would refund the family the money the boy had spent. At the same time, the company advised users to turn on the parental control feature, to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Previously, a boy in England bought in-game itemsJurassic Worldfor a total of $6,000 after remembering his father's Apple ID. Apple also refunded the money in this case.
