13 year old boy was beaten by his father and had to be hospitalized

Most people expressed shock and sympathy at the sight of the child being beaten so brutally. Many even expressed doubt and disbelief that a father could treat his child like that.

However, through verification, the person who beat Long was indeed his biological father, Ta Van Linh (Nguyen hamlet, Huong Son town, Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province).

Mr. Linh said that on the afternoon of October 6, he was so angry when he heard that his son had stolen money that he beat him and his son had to be hospitalized afterwards. Mr. Linh said: “The principal called me and said that my son had stolen the teacher’s bag and a bicycle. When I heard the news, I immediately went to Thai Nguyen, went to look for him and found him playing video games in a shop. Then I beat him up.”

Because he works far away, Mr. Linh only visits his son once every 1-2 months and lets Long live with his grandmother. However, recently, Long often leaves home to wander around and steal. Mr. Linh said that although he loves his son very much, he cannot control himself because he is so naughty.

Mr. Linh also said that after Long's image was spread on social networks, Phu Binh district police also summoned him to take his statement.

On the afternoon of October 7, speaking with reporters, Mr. Duong Viet Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Son town, Phu Binh district, said that immediately after receiving information about the incident, the town leaders directly visited Long's health. At the same time, the district and town police also invited Mr. Linh to make a report on this matter.

According to Mr. Hoa, Long has a very special situation as his parents have been divorced for many years.

Mr. Hoa said that when Long saw his father, he ran away. After catching his son, his father used a bamboo stick to hit his buttocks, causing those injuries.

Currently, Long's health is stable, the conclusion is that he only suffered soft tissue injuries, not life-threatening, and is being treated at Phu Binh District Hospital.

“We are also coordinating with the authorities to clarify the incident and handle Mr. Linh's behavior in accordance with the law,” said Mr. Hoa.
