20-day-old baby snatched from grandmother's arms found dead in dump
This morning, two days after being snatched from her grandmother, the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a garbage dump in Bim Son town, Thanh Hoa.
The body of a 20-day-old baby girl was foundfound in Dong Son ward, 20km from homeabout 10km. Authorities said the child had many injuries on his body, possibly because he was murdered and then dumped in a landfill.
"The purpose of the kidnapping is not yet clear," said a Thanh Hoa police leader, adding that many forces are urgently searching for the perpetrator.
Information released by Thanh Hoa Police said that at around 6:40 p.m. on November 25, the 20-day-old baby girl of Mr. Le Huu Thuan (37 years old) and his wife was at home with her grandmother Pham Thi Xuan (65 years old) when two masked people (one male, one female) on a motorbike broke into the house and restrained her.
The man threatened her with a knife, while the woman grabbed Ms. Xuan’s hair and covered her mouth. The group then pushed Ms. Xuan out of the gate and grabbed the baby. The man continued to kick Ms. Xuan out onto the street. The two strangers then carried the baby onto a motorbike and escaped.
At the scene, police recovered the girl's hat and a sandal suspected to have belonged to the kidnapper who dropped it while escaping.
Mr. Thuan and his wife work at Bim Son railway station, have a 3rd grade son and a 20-day-old daughter.
