3-year-old child suspected of being abused by mother and 'stepfather'
When visiting her grandchild, Than's grandmother discovered many injuries on the child's body, including a wound on the head that required 10 stitches. Suspecting that the child had been abused, she reported it to the police.
On June 22, An Binh Ward Police (Di An Town, Binh Duong) said that this agency has transferred the case file of a 3-year-old boy suspected of being abused by his biological mother and “stepfather” to Di An Town Police for investigation according to their authority. The victim is Than, the son of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan (19 years old).

According to the police, Ms. Hoang Thi Hien (Than's grandmother) reported that her 3-year-old grandson was abused by Nhan and Nhan's lover, Tran Thanh Quyt (35 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City).
Ms. Hien reported that she witnessed Nhan and Quyt beating Than many times. Afraid that her grandchild would be hurt, she repeatedly offered to take him home to raise, but Nhan refused.

About a week ago, when visiting her grandchild, Mrs. Hien discovered a large wound on Than's head that required 10 stitches. Seeing many other injuries on the baby's body, Mrs. Hien decided to report it to the police.
According to the complaint filed by the boy's grandmother, about 2 years ago, Nhan had feelings for Quyt and the two lived together as husband and wife. During their time together, Quyt repeatedly beat Nhan's stepchild.
