Tragically, a 4-year-old child drowned.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 3rd, the authorities of Hamlet 14, Quynh Lam Commune, Quynh Luu District (Nghe An Province) announced that they had visited, encouraged, and offered condolences to the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien (born in 1988) and Ms. Han Thi My (born in 1991), whose child drowned.

Earlier on the afternoon of July 2nd, Nguyen Huu Thuat (born in 2010), the eldest son of Mr. Chien, went with his father to his aunt Nguyet's house next door to ask for bananas to plant. After digging up the bananas, his father took them home to plant, forgetting that Thuat was busy playing with his aunt. When Ms. My returned home and didn't see her son, she rushed to look for him. Later that evening, she discovered her son's hat floating in the pond at Aunt Nguyet's house. She called for help to retrieve the hat, but Thuat had already died.

It is known that Mr. Chien and Ms. My's family is in very difficult circumstances; the couple recently had their first child, Thuat.

This is the third child drowning incident this summer in Quynh Luu district.
