8 month old baby choked on banana and almost died
A child patient in Hai Phong was hospitalized in a state of cyanosis, respiratory and cardiac arrest.
On January 28, the mother was careless and let the baby eat a banana by himself. Suddenly, he choked and stopped breathing. The family took him to Hai Phong Children's Hospital for emergency care.
The emergency department doctors issued a red alert to the entire hospital, focusing on cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child. A few minutes later, the child's heart started beating again.
The patient had to use a ventilator for a day. The next day, the endoscope doctor checked and suctioned out the remaining foreign object. The child's condition has improved, he is off the ventilator, and is expected to be discharged before Tet.
Doctor Duong Van Doan, Deputy Head of the hospital's Emergency Resuscitation Department, recommends that caregivers focus on caring for and monitoring their children to avoid risks.
