3-year-old girl in Nghe An dies of suspected anaphylactic shock

On the evening of October 10, the family brought the body of Nguyen Thi Bao Tr. (3 years old) back to her hometown in Anh Son town (Anh Son district) for burial.

Previously, on the morning of October 8, this child was taken by relatives to Anh Son District Medical Center for treatment in a condition where the child had a runny nose and two swollen holes on both sides of his ears. Doctors diagnosed that the child had bilateral atrial septal defect and therefore admitted him for inpatient treatment.

Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital said the victim died before entering the hospital.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of Anh Son District Medical Center said that at 10am this morning, the child was taken to the operating room for surgery. However, after anesthesia, the child had anaphylactic shock, so the doctors had to actively resuscitate him before transferring him to Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

“Along the way, the doctors kept pumping the balloon, putting the patient on a ventilator, and actively resuscitating him. He died only when he got to Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital,” said Ms. Huong.

Meanwhile, speaking to a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, a leader of Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital confirmed that the child died on the way to the hospital. “When we received him, he was already dead,” he said.
