The twin-engine L-410 plane crashed while trying to land at a small airport near the village of Nelkan, about 1,000 kilometers from the city of Khabarovsk in southeastern Russia. The plane, belonging to Khabarovsk Airlines, was on a routine flight from Khabarovsk to Nelkan, according to AP.
Investigators said two crew members and four passengers were killed. The three-year-old girl survived, suffering concussions and broken bones, but her life was not in danger. She will be flown back to Khabarovsk for treatment.
Local leader Vyacheslav Shport said the girl’s parents were not on the plane. She was on her way to visit her grandmother and was traveling with a teacher at the time of the incident.
Images broadcast on Russian television showed the plane crashing in the woods. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The L-410 is a short-range aircraft manufactured in the Czech Republic since the 1960s. Some Russian airlines still use this model./.
