(Baonghean.vn) - A 5-month-old girl with hydrocephalus and a large head who recently lost her father is losing hope of survival because her family's circumstances are too difficult.

Welcoming us in a level 4 house with almost nothing of value in a rural area of hamlet 5 Hung Tan, Hung Nguyen was the heartbreaking cry of a young wife holding her newborn baby but with complications, the head is getting bigger and bigger, she has to carry it day and night, the eyes are covered, while her husband, Hoang Van Sang, passed away suddenly just 2 months ago.

The grandparents cried as they told the story: 5 months ago, Hoai Thuong was born at Nghe An Children's Hospital. Her mother was healthy during pregnancy, but gave birth prematurely. The doctors and nurses took her to a private room for monitoring.

After a week in the hospital, the doctor checked my health and found everything normal. On Monday, I will do the discharge procedures. The family is happy and joyful, having a new member. So many plans and promises are waiting ahead.

However, on the last day of discharge from the hospital, the child had a high fever and convulsions. "My family asked to take the child to the National Children's Hospital. The doctor at Nghe An Children's Hospital advised: let the child stay for a few days for observation."

Nghe An Children's Hospital monitored the child from Monday to Friday, and only applied a warm towel to reduce the fever, but the fever did not go down. Too worried, the family asked someone to ask 3 times before they could take the child to Hanoi. Nghe An Children's Hospital provided a car to transport the patient and a nurse to monitor him, with the medical record: Fever of unknown origin. The family had to hire another doctor to go with them in case of any unexpected events.

When we arrived at the National Children's Hospital, the doctors there said: Too slow. The child had a high fever, weak resistance, and it affected the brain. After 21 days of treatment in Hanoi, the child was discharged. Holding the appointment paper for a 2-week check-up, the child's parents could only cry. Then the trips to the hospital became more and more frequent. After 3 treatments at the National Children's Hospital, the doctor gave two options: One was surgery, the other was to take the child home.

With the head getting bigger and bigger and no money for surgery, the family had to take the child home. Crying day and night, unable to lie down, the grandparents and parents took turns staying on duty, holding the child in their arms day and night.

My father, Hoang Van Sang, 29 years old, passed away, leaving my parents and wife with an inconsolable pain.

The child's mother is Pham Thi Thu, from Nghi Loc, married to Hamlet 5, Hung Tan Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province. Thu held her child and said in tears: I was born without a single day of bathing like other women, just a series of long days in the hospital, the child is getting weaker, last month he could only look at his mother, now he can't talk to her anymore, I can only hold him for as long as I can, my husband is like that... The fragile, weak hands of the new wife had to constantly turn when holding the child because the child's head was too heavy.

“I am so desperate, many times I want to give up, but I can't bear to look at my child, I have to try to take care of my child day by day” – Thu said.

My grandparents, Hoang Van Trung and Nguyen Thi Loan, are farmers who can only rely on a few fields. Their son died and now their grandson is like this, my grandparents cried and cried.

Giving gifts from friends to the family, we just wish there was a miracle to cure Hoai Thuong's illness...
