Newborn baby girl abandoned early morning near district medical center

(Baonghean.vn) - A newborn baby girl, just born about 2-3 hours ago, weighing 2.6 kg, was abandoned in an old basket, near Tan Ky District Medical Center.

At nearly 5:00 a.m. on April 15, 2017, Mr. Luong's family, living in Block 4, Lat town, Tan Ky district (an area near the district medical center), got up with relatives to exercise when they heard a newborn baby crying near the gate.

Hearing the crying, Mr. Luong approached and discovered a newborn baby girl wrapped in a thin blanket, lying in an old basket with some old clothes. He called everyone to come closer, carried the baby into the house and discovered that the baby's umbilical cord had not been cut yet.

The baby was then transferred to Tan Ky District Medical Center to cut the umbilical cord and receive care. Through examination, the doctor determined that the baby was 2-3 hours old at the time of discovery, weighed 2.6kg, and was completely healthy. The baby was then transferred to the town's medical station, where local authorities and medical station staff took turns caring for the baby, calling on people to donate milk, and broadcasting information about the baby over the loudspeaker.

A representative of the Lat Town Police said that upon learning about the abandoned baby girl, many families who wanted to adopt her submitted applications to the Town People's Committee. According to regulations, the baby will be cared for for 7-10 days to see if the parents will come to claim her.
