The baby girl weighed about the same as an average six-month-old and was twice the size of a normal newborn.
The baby was born by caesarean section. At the time of birth, the baby girl's mother, Nandini (19 years old), weighed nearly 93 kg and was 1.75 m tall.
Doctors were surprised at the baby's weight because the birth went smoothly. They said the Indian girl surpassed Carisa Rusack, the heaviest baby girl on record.
Rusack is known to live in Massachusetts, USA. He weighed 6.49 kg at the time of birth in 2014.

“In my 25 years of experience, I have never seen such a big baby,” said Dr Venkatesh Raju, who operated on Nandini. “This is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby in India, but the heaviest baby girl in the world.”
Doctors are monitoring the baby in the intensive care unit to check his development before handing him over to his family.
Poornima Manu, the surgeon who operated on Nandini, said: “She was a big surprise for all of us. The surgery took almost half an hour and there was no major complications. She was really big and beautiful.”
Through initial examination, doctors found that the girl did not have any health problems, stable blood sugar, good thyroid and breathing…
The mother also had no signs of thyroid disorders or diabetes during pregnancy.
Despite being born with a “huge” weight, the Indian girl is not the current Guinness World Record holder for the heaviest newborn baby. That record belongs to a boy born in Italy, who weighed 10.2 kg at birth.
According to the Telegraph, a representative of Guinness World Records said the organization has no intention of dividing this record by gender.
