(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 16th, the closing ceremony and awards presentation for the 2016 National Student and High School Mathematics Olympiad took place at Quy Nhon University, Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh province).

A spectacular artistic performance by artists from Binh Dinh province to welcome the closing ceremony.

Attending the closing ceremony were Prof. Dr. Bui Van Ga - Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Du - President of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, Executive Director of the Institute of Advanced Mathematics; Mr. Vo Vinh Quang - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Binh Dinh province; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Anh - Rector of Quy Nhon University, Head of the Organizing Committee; Prof. Dr. Phung Ho Hai - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, Vice Director of the Institute of Mathematics, co-head of the Organizing Committee, along with teachers and more than 700 students from 81 universities, colleges, and academies and more than 70 students from 11 specialized high schools nationwide.

The exam was a great success, with side activities such as a mathematics seminar, a cultural exchange event titled "Students and Young People with Love for the Sea and Islands of the Fatherland," and visits to scenic spots in the martial arts land...

The organizing committee presented awards to the winning students.

All six students from the Mathematics Department of Vinh University won top prizes.

In this year's competition, the organizing committee awarded 33 first prizes, 58 second prizes, and over 90 third prizes in Calculus, and 30 first prizes, 58 second prizes, and over 90 third prizes in Algebra, along with many consolation prizes in both categories for students.

The student body was awarded 4 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals. In addition, the organizing committee presented special awards to 9 students who won first prize in Algebra and Calculus, and 8 students who received the Le Van Thiem Award. Hanoi University of Education won first prize overall.

The Vinh University team had all 6/6 participating students win awards, including: 1 first prize, 6 second prizes, and 3 third prizes; the specialized mathematics class of Vinh University had 4 participating students, winning 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Specifically:
