Inside the cellar containing dozens of tons of fake gold of the 'psychic'

On August 12, Vinh Phuc Provincial Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Vu Thi Hoa (born in 1972) and Chu Xuan Thu (born in 1946, Hoa's husband, both from Yen Bai) for "fraudulent appropriation of property".

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Do Huan, Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Department (Vinh Phuc Provincial Police) said that after receiving Vu Thi Hoa's complaint, the Criminal Police Department transferred the documents to Vinh Phuc Provincial Police for handling.

The investigation determined that Hoa did not find 27 tons of gold and deliver 7 blocks of gold to Mr. NVĐ.

Therefore, the Investigation Police Agency did not initiate a case based on Hoa's complaint; at the same time, it investigated and clarified this woman's acts of fraud and property appropriation.

Expanding the case, the police determined that with similar tricks, Hoa also defrauded and appropriated more than 20 billion VND from Mr. NHS (from Ha Tinh province).

Due to poor business, Hoa and his wife moved to the southern provinces and claimed to be psychics with the ability to see through the eyes, talk to the dead, and find martyrs' remains. Hoa advertised that he had recovered many martyrs' remains in many localities.

However, through investigation, the authorities determined that Hoa had no ability to find the martyrs' graves. This was just a trick that the couple set up to defraud and make illegal profits.

From 2011 to 2014, under the guise of "psychics", these two people continuously carried out missions to find martyrs' graves, then sent their disciples to meet families looking for martyrs' graves to mobilize money to appropriate them.

In 2015, the Military Region 7 forces discovered that Hoa had signs of fraud related to grave excavation, so they did not allow Vu Thi Hoa's group to operate in the area.

Hoa and her husband then returned to Vinh Phuc province to establish Vu Thi Hoa Forestry and Medicinal Materials Trading One Member Co., Ltd. However, this company did not operate for the registered purpose but instead organized fortune telling and medical treatment.

To increase the trust and mystery, Hoa hired people to dig a tunnel about 30m deep behind the house and then moved 27 tons of fake gold inside. Hoa also bought some real gold blocks weighing about 1kg to mix with the fake gold.

Then, Hoa led some people to see and held the real gold block for them to appraise with the purpose of proving that the gold treasure was real.

Through relationships, Hoa met Mr. NVĐ and expressed his wish that this person would help him hand over the gold to the State.

However, Hoa explained that this was spiritual gold, so before handing it over, a ceremony had to be held. After agreeing to bring the 7 gold-plated metal blocks (equivalent to 251 kg) to Mr. NVĐ's house for the ceremony, Hoa requested that no one open it to see.

A few days after the ceremony, Vu Thi Hoa continued to ask for an additional 70 billion VND to release the animals. However, Mr. D. did not have enough money to pay for the offering, so Hoa left and left 7 blocks of fake gold behind. When Mr. D. opened the bags containing the "gold" and invited an appraiser to check, he discovered that the hundreds of kilograms of gold were all fake.

A few days later, Hoa called to demand 7 blocks of gold and received the answer that the gold was fake, so Hoa himself filed a complaint against Mr. NVĐ to the Criminal Police Department, Ministry of Public Security for his "gold swapping" behavior.
