After many years of operation, Steelhouse Street Police Station, Birmingham is open to visitors, discovering the mysteries of the place that once held dangerous criminals.

In January 2017, the Steelhouse Street Police Station in Birmingham was renovated and turned into a museum. The facility was built 125 years ago and once held some of Britain's most dangerous criminals, including the Peaky Blinders gang and serial killer Fred West. |

The tunnel has an underground road leading from Steelhouse police station to Birmingham Magistrates' Court, making it easier to transfer prisoners, instead of using trucks. |

Steelhouse is one of the oldest places of detention in the UK. Birmingham East Police Chief Chris Johnson said: “We are moving into a fantastic new facility, designed specifically for 21st century policing.” |

The Peaky Blinders were a criminal gang founded in Birmingham, England in the late 19th century and declined in influence in the early 20th century.During this period, Peaky Blinders often ruled over industrialised areas such as Bordersley and Small Heath, as Birmingham became an important manufacturing city in the world. |

"The weapons the Peaky Blinders had were very strange looking," said David Cross, a former West Midlands Police museum officer. |
