The submarine HQ-182 achieved a record-breaking submerged time of 8 days and 8 nights without surfacing. The submarine HQ-183 had a similar submerged time but reached a record depth of 285 meters.

On December 20th, a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City, led by Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, along with members of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and representatives from various departments and agencies, visited Submarine Brigade 189.

The delegation visited the submarine HQ-183 (also known as the Kilo-class submarine) named Ho Chi Minh City in Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 and December 22, 2014).

Colonel Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of Submarine Brigade 189, warmly welcomed the delegation and highly appreciated the attention of the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City to the Submarine Brigade in general and the officers and soldiers of submarine HQ-183 in particular.

Colonel Nghiem stated that the two submarines, HQ-182 and HQ-183, have been received for exactly one year now. From the very beginning, the unit has received the attention of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as well as the people of these two localities.

"The officers and soldiers of the Submarine Brigade will not disappoint the attention of local leaders and the people of the whole country," Colonel Nghiem said.

According to Mr. Nghiem, the submarines HQ-182 and HQ-183 have made a total of 16 voyages since their commissioning, including 6 independent voyages and 10 voyages with Russian experts.

Consequently, the Navy Command signed a decision to deploy the aircraft into combat six months ahead of schedule.

Specifically, submarine HQ-182 achieved a record-breaking submerged time of 8 days and 8 nights without surfacing. Submarine HQ-183 had a similar submerged time but reached a record depth of 285 meters.

This depth is considered by experts to be the maximum depth for Kilo-class submarines.

Regarding weaponry, Colonel Nghiem gave a very positive assessment, along with the fighting spirit of the officers and soldiers, who were very courageous, steadfast, confident, and ready to participate in combat to protect maritime sovereignty.

Vo Van Thuong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared that the Ho Chi Minh City delegation was very honored to visit the Submarine Brigade and the HQ-183 submarine.

"Visiting the area, we witnessed the high level of concern and determination of the Party and the State towards the Navy and the submarine force, aiming for modernization."

"Having witnessed the facilities firsthand and visited the submarine, I believe this is a source of pride not only for the Vietnam People's Army and the Navy, but also for the Party Committee, government, and people of Ho Chi Minh City," Mr. Thuong said.

Earlier, the leaders of Submarine Brigade 189 led a delegation to visit the Submarine Training Center of Submarine Brigade 189; and visited and encouraged the officers and soldiers of submarine HQ-183.
