Patient 437 died of septic shock on the basis of serious underlying medical conditions and Covid-19
On the evening of July 31, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Minister of Health, Head of the Ministry of Health's special standing unit to fight the Covid-19 epidemic in Da Nang City, informed about the death of patient number 437.
Male patient, NHL, 61 years old, residing in Hoa An ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang city. The patient had a history of chronic kidney failure, had been treated for kidney failure and hemodialysis, hypertension, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, and gout at Da Nang Hospital for a long time before being diagnosed with Covid-19 (July 27, 2020).
On June 23, 2020, the patient with difficulty breathing was transferred to the Department of Internal Medicine - Urology with a diagnosis of end-stage chronic kidney disease, 7-year hemodialysis cycle, hypertension, gout, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and acute pulmonary edema.

From July 9, 2020, the patient had a continuous high fever. On July 17, 2020, the patient had respiratory failure and was transferred to the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department of Da Nang Hospital on the same day.
On July 27, 2020, the patient's throat swab test was positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. On July 29, the patient had circulatory collapse, blood pressure depended on high-dose vasopressors, and the patient was put on ECMO. The patient was consulted by the treatment subcommittee many times, and assessed that this was a very serious case with a high mortality prognosis.
Despite being treated by doctors at Da Nang Hospital, he died on the afternoon of July 31, 2020. Cause of death: Septic shock, multiple organ failure, respiratory arrest in a patient with pneumonia, chronic kidney failure on regular dialysis, high blood pressure, gout, and Covid-19.
