The 17th patient died of end-stage chronic kidney failure and Covid-19
The Ministry of Health said that patient 431 died of severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19. The patient had a history of type 1 diabetes, end-stage chronic kidney failure, septic shock, and multiple organ failure. This is the 17th death from Covid-19 since the pandemic broke out in Vietnam.
On the morning of August 12, 2020, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, Head of the Ministry of Health's special standing unit for Covid-19 prevention and control in Da Nang City, informed about the death of a Covid-19 patient.
Patient 431:Male, 55 years old, address: Hoa Khanh Bac - Lien Chieu - Da Nang. Medical history: type 1 diabetes, end-stage chronic kidney failure, hypertension.
From July 26 to July 30, the hospitalized patient was treated and isolated at the Department of Nephrology - Endocrinology, Da Nang Hospital. Samples were taken for testing on July 26;
On July 27, the patient tested positive for SARS-COV-2;
On July 31, the patient was transferred to the Covid-19 Isolation and Treatment Center - Hue Central Hospital, branch 2, and was diagnosed with: Severe pneumonia due to Covid-19, in a patient with type I diabetes, end-stage chronic kidney failure;
From July 31 to August 4, the patient was in anesthesia, on a ventilator, and anemic, receiving continuous blood transfusion and blood filtration, and receiving intensive care and invasive mechanical ventilation;
Evening of August 4: patient had gastrointestinal bleeding, bilateral collapsed lung, generalized edema, necrotizing cellulitis - dystrophy in the right arm;
From August 6 to August 10, the patient was in deep coma, had weak limbs, rapid heart rate, and low blood pressure;

August 12, 0:00: illness worsened, pulse was intermittent, blood pressure dropped, after 30 minutes the patient had complete cardiac arrest; 0:30: patient died.
Diagnosis of death: Severe pneumonia due to Covid-19, in a patient with type 1 diabetes, end-stage chronic renal failure, septic shock, multiple organ failure.
Thus, up to this point, there have been 17 Covid-19 patients in our country who have died since the beginning of the epidemic, namely patients (Patient 496, Patient 426, Patient 429, Patient 524, Patient 475, Patient 499, Patient 428, Patient 437, Patient 651, Patient 718, Patient 456, Patient 430, Patient 737, Patient 436, Patient 522, Patient 832 and Patient 431).
Most of the deaths in our country so far are elderly people, with serious underlying diseases such as end-stage chronic renal failure, end-stage leukemia unresponsive to chemotherapy, coronary syndrome, acute respiratory failure, osteoarthritis, hypertension, chronic adrenal insufficiency, type 2 diabetes, sepsis, pneumonia...
