Mr. Pham Van Long - Deputy Director of Nghe An General Hospital 115 said: At the time of the incident, I was also present at the hospital and was receiving IV but had to quickly remove the IV needle and run out to stabilize the situation. When we saw the tense situation, we called Nghi Phu Commune Police and 113 Police to handle the situation.
After the incident, Mr. Long asked the medical staff to write a truthful report, combined with video analysis recorded by the camera at the Emergency Department to clearly understand the nature of this violent behavior.
Accordingly, patient Nguyen Van Nam (26 years old), an employee of Tan Thang Construction Joint Stock Company, had a traffic accident and was picked up by the hospital ambulance team from the accident scene on Le Viet Thuat Street - Vinh City to the Emergency Department of Hospital 115 at 9:25 p.m. on August 18.
In less than 30 seconds, Doctor Minh was present to treat the patient.
At the time Nguyen Van Nam was brought in, the Emergency Room had no patients to treat. Dr. Hoang Thi Minh was the attending physician there. Less than 30 seconds after the patient was brought in, Dr. Minh was present, directly examining the wound and giving first aid, explaining to the patient. At this time, the patient was conscious.
After checking the signs and vital signs, it was shown that the patient was not at risk of death. Dr. Hoang Thi Minh returned to the table to perform the next instructions for patient Nam.
At 9:41 p.m. and 57 seconds, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoang Thang pushed open the door to the Emergency Room. Mr. Thang did not come to check on his staff's condition but questioned and scolded Dr. Minh. At exactly 9:42 p.m. and 28 seconds, Mr. Thang swung his arm and hit Dr. Minh.
After beating Dr. Minh and nurse Le Quang Hoa, Mr. Thang also called on others to join in the beating and threatened to take action against the hospital security guard. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Huan, a relative of Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, was seen holding a chair and running after Mr. Thang as he continued to chase the doctor into the break room.
The video has not yet shown the employee's condition, but Mr. Thang beat the doctor.
Present at this meeting, Dr. Hoang Thi Minh and nurse Le Quang Hoa said: Mr. Thang entered the duty room and hit Mr. Hoa on the head. And in a split second, Mr. Thang was dragged out by some other people. At this time, the break room was very dark, both of them were confused and scared.
According to Mr. Long, right after the abuse took place, many people present at the hospital were extremely upset with Mr. Thang's behavior.
On the morning of August 21, Mr. Thang returned to the hospital to meet and apologize, however, Mr. Long did not agree.
Mr. Pham Van Long expressed: Fortunately, there were no other patients in the Emergency Room at that time. If there were other patients and Mr. Thang had beaten the doctor, the doctor would have had to take temporary refuge, then who would have taken care of the patient in need of emergency care... The hospital's medical staff did nothing wrong! No one should take their anger out on the medical staff.
There are many cases of violence against medical staff that are related to alcohol. Patients’ relatives who have no medical knowledge and come to the hospital while under the influence of alcohol, cannot control their behavior, leading to assaulting medical staff when they believe that their relatives are not being cared for properly.
Currently, the case is being investigated by Vinh City Police. Nghe An Newspaper will have the earliest information to readers./.
