Thanh Chuong General Hospital: Striving for comprehensive excellence

(Baonghean) - Thanh Chuong District General Hospital was established in 1965 (separated from Anh Thanh Do Hospital). During the 50 years of formation and development, the unit has always upheld the spirit of solidarity to overcome difficulties, bringing the hospital from a weak unit to a comprehensively excellent unit.

...Determining that the implementation of professional tasks is decisive for future development, the hospital has established an emergency department of intensive care, anti-poisoning, arranged enough specialist doctors, nursing staff of the department and emergency room with a system of modern machinery and equipment; full examination rooms: internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, specialty, Oriental medicine, creating convenience for patients. In 2014, 132,859/105.9 patients visited the hospital; in 2015, it is estimated to reach over 104% of the plan. Inpatient treatment has implemented many modern techniques such as: total hysterectomy, 2nd, 3rd, 4th cesarean section, ovarian cyst removal, ectopic pregnancy by laparoscopic surgery, bone fusion surgery of all kinds, cataract replacement surgery by phaco method and other complex surgeries. Along with that, in the past 5 years, the hospital has sent 60 doctors to strengthen the commune health stations; Coordinate with the district Social Insurance to conduct 150 inspections and supervisions at commune health stations, complete technical approval documents at health stations and submit them to the Department of Health for approval. Scientific research has 5-10 topics each year; in particular, there are 2 provincial-level topics applied in medical examination and treatment at the hospital.

The Party Committee and the Board of Directors have always attached importance to the training and development of cadres, constantly improving their professional qualifications and political theory, combining training in many forms such as short-term, medium-term and long-term. Up to now, the hospital has 39 doctors, an increase of 13 people compared to 2010; including 1 specialist II; 21 specialist I; the heads and deputy heads of departments and offices are all specialist level I, with intermediate political theory qualifications or higher and are continuing to train 3 specialist II doctors, 44 specialist I doctors and 1 master; training and updating knowledge for all hospital staff; coordinating with the district health department to open 2 village health classes... thereby ensuring timely medical examination and treatment for the people.

In the context of financial difficulties, the hospital's Board of Directors has made the most of resources, mobilizing over 21 billion VND from many international programs and projects to build a liquid waste collection and treatment system worth 1.3 billion VND, upgrade the Internal Medicine Building, the Oriental Medicine Building, and the incinerator worth nearly 3.2 billion VND; invest in upgrading the 3 specialty areas, the clinic area, the infection control building, and the nutrition control building, with a total value of 820 million VND from the hospital's savings; seek sponsorship for over 1 billion VND to build an asphalt road from National Highway 46 around the campus and upgrade the entire front yard system of the auditorium...

The hospital's Board of Directors regularly coordinates well with the Social Insurance and the District Preventive Medicine Center to take good care of people's health, making an important contribution to ensuring social security. The movement to build "Bowl of Love Porridge" to provide free porridge on Saturdays is maintained regularly every week. The hospital has established a live blood bank, over the past 5 years, 35 doctors, nurses, officers and hospital staff have donated blood directly to save the lives of patients in critical condition. The work of gratitude, humanity and charity has been well done with an amount of more than 500 million VND. Cultural and sports movements have won many high prizes through competitions held annually in the district and province. Annual national defense and security tasks have been well completed.

In recognition of the achievements, the hospital's leadership and staff have received many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee for the title of excellent workers, and Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Health. For 5 consecutive years, the hospital's Party Committee has been classified as "Clean and Strong" by the District Party Committee Standing Committee; of which 2 years have achieved the title of "Typical Clean and Strong"; 100% of Party cells have achieved the title of "Clean and Strong". In particular, in 2014, the hospital was honored to receive a Decision from the Provincial People's Committee recognizing it as a Grade II Hospital, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Emulation Flag, and the Prime Minister awarded a Certificate of Merit.
