Proactively plan to prevent and control epidemics

Receiving an average of 2,500 outpatients and 700 inpatients every day, always facing a high risk of infection, Vinh General Hospital is ready with plans to promptly respond to the epidemic. The hospital carries out the motto of both fulfilling the "mission" of caring for and protecting people's health and taking on the role of "frontline against the epidemic".

Master, Doctor, Specialist II Pham Van Son -The Deputy Director of Vinh General Hospital said: “Given the complicated developments of the epidemic, we have determined that the hospital must be truly safe in order to do a good job of taking care of people's health during this period. If the epidemic attacks the hospital, the consequences will be unpredictable. Therefore, the Hospital always adheres to the criteria of the set of criteria "Hospitals safe in preventing and fighting Covid-19 and acute respiratory infections", to proactively implement measures to control, prevent and fight the epidemic".

Accordingly, right from the outbreak of the epidemic, the Hospital established a Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control, directly following up to ensure the effectiveness and safety of activities throughout the unit. A rapid response team, ready to respond 24/7, was also promptly established.

The hospital has developed full procedures and plans for epidemic prevention and control and special isolation areas, proactively prepared adequate supplies of drugs, chemicals, and equipment to proactively respond to possible epidemic situations; organized training for medical staff on the process of screening, receiving, and isolating people suspected of being infected with Covid-19 and updated the Covid-19 treatment regimen for all relevant departments.

In addition, communication about the epidemic to the people, patients, patients' relatives and staff is focused. The latest information about the epidemic situation is continuously updated through TV screens installed in departments/rooms along with radio channels, posters, standees, bulletin boards, Facebook, Website... of the hospital.

To ensure safety, the hospital conducts screening, triage, medical control, and epidemiological reporting in four steps: When patients enter the hospital, when patients register for examination, and when patients are examined at clinics and inpatient treatment departments. The hospital uses a remote thermal imaging camera system to check body temperature, ensuring speed and high accuracy. The hospital has also developed a plan to receive, isolate, monitor, and treat cases confirmed to be infected with Covid-19.

Applying IT to improve the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control

In order to improve the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and reduce the risk of infection in hospitals, Vinh General Hospital has actively promoted the effectiveness of IT applications in the medical examination and treatment process.

Accordingly, the hospital has promoted on all information channels instructions for people to declare their health by scanning QR codes. For people who have scanned the QR code to declare their health before coming to the hospital, they will be arranged to enter the examination through a separate entrance, without having to wait in line to declare their health; helping to reduce waiting time, limit congestion, and minimize inconvenience to people.

The hospital has also deployed the VINH Hospital Application (App) - an application that provides utilities in medical examination and treatment, helping people proactively get a queue number at home, register for home health care services... to visit, examine, and treat at the hospital more conveniently and quickly.

In order to promptly support people in conveniently paying for medical examination and treatment costs, reduce the time spent gathering and waiting to pay at the cashier, the hospital has deployed a variety of cashless payment applications such as: Payment via App, VN Pay, QR Pay, Vietcombank Ipay, Vietinbank Ipay, money transfer (Internet Banking), e-wallet, POS card swipe, smart medical examination card...
