(Baonghean.vn) - On July 12th, Nghe An General Hospital received a critically ill patient due to a work accident. The entire surgical team of Nghe An General Hospital was present and worked promptly and efficiently in a coordinated effort to save the patient's life.

Patient Vu Van Thong (49 years old, Quynh Hong, Quynh Luu, Nghe An) was admitted to the hospital at 8:25 AM on July 12, 2015, in a condition of widespread body trauma, crushed left lower leg, loss of left foot, severe injuries to both hands; swelling and reduced function of both eyes; and multiple wounds on the chest and abdomen caused by foreign objects embedded in them.

Recognizing the patient's multiple life-threatening injuries caused by a mine explosion while working, an immediate interdisciplinary consultation involving Trauma, Emergency, Ophthalmology, and Urology departments was convened. They decided to perform emergency surgery to save Mr. Thong's life as quickly as possible.

During the emergency surgery, due to the severity of the patient's leg injury, which could not be preserved, the surgical team proceeded to amputate the middle third of the left thigh, control bleeding, treat the wounds on both hands, and remove several foreign objects embedded in the patient's body. Currently, patient Thong is being closely monitored and receiving intensive care by doctors in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
