(Baonghean.vn) - As of September 17th, after a week of continuous dialysis, patient Cụt Văn Giáp (15 years old, Kỳ Sơn) is still in critical condition, fighting for his life against death every minute.

On September 12th, Nghe An General Hospital received patient Cut Van Giap, transferred from Ky Son General Hospital, for emergency treatment. The patient was admitted in a state of multiple organ failure with symptoms including: severe generalized edema, pale and jaundiced skin; requiring vasopressors to maintain stable blood pressure; complete urinary incontinence; liver enzymes elevated 100 times higher than normal, accompanied by acid-base and electrolyte imbalance. The risk of death was very high.

Dr. Tran Phuong (Department of Intensive Care and Toxicology) said: “Patient Giap suffered multiple organ failure due to poisoning while in the forest. When he was first admitted, the patient had no health insurance or identification documents, but after a multi-departmental consultation involving the Emergency and Intensive Care units, the hospital leadership decided to use all the most modern methods and equipment to save the patient's life. Last week, we used continuous hemodialysis to remove toxins, put the patient on intensive mechanical ventilation, and administered high-dose antibiotics.”

Currently, after a week of intensive care, patient Giap's clinical test results have improved, but his chances of survival remain very slim. Patient Giap is a Khmu ethnic minority from Ky Son district, but the treatment costs are very high.Each day, in addition to the nearly 20 million VND covered by health insurance, the patient needs an additional 4-5 million VND for specialized medication. This is a huge expense for the ethnic minority family. In recent days, staff in the Intensive Care and Toxicology Department and family members caring for the patient have contributed to support Mr. Giap's treatment.
