After a period of intensive preparation, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital – the leading hospital in the North Central region – will officially implement and store electronic medical records from September 1, 2025.
Acting under the direction of the Ministry of Health, the People's Committee of Nghe An province, and the Nghe An Department of Health,Nghe An Friendship General HospitalThe implementation of electronic medical records will begin on July 30, 2025.
Accordingly, the hospital has invested in upgrading its server infrastructure, network infrastructure, and information security; purchasing equipment (computers, scanners, barcode printers, smart kiosks, etc.), and providing digital signatures for medical staff.
At the same time, the hospital has also implemented the synchronized integration of various hospital management software systems (HIS), image storage and transmission systems (RIS-PACS), laboratory information systems (LIS), electronic medical records (EMR), etc.
After a period of actively upgrading its information technology infrastructure, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital has basically met the conditions to implement electronic medical records according to Circular No. 13/2025/TT-BYT and Official Letter No. 365/TTYQG-GPQLCL dated June 6, 2025 of the Ministry of Health.

After thorough evaluation, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital announced that it will officially implement and store electronic medical records from September 1, 2025.
Nghe An Friendship General Hospital is a Grade 1, tertiary hospital for general medical examination and treatment in Nghe An province; it is also the tertiary hospital for examination and treatment in Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynecology in the North Central region.
Over the past period, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital has implemented 11,128 techniques from the provincial to the central level, including many advanced techniques such as organ transplantation, vascular intervention, open-heart surgery, assisted reproductive technology, and the development of specialized robotic surgery and endoscopic surgery in various fields.
Currently, Nghe An Friendship General Hospital has a planned capacity of 2,000 beds. Each day, the hospital provides inpatient treatment for approximately 2,600 patients.
Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 2529/QD-UBND promulgating the Project to develop Nghe An Friendship General Hospital into a special-class hospital.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong – Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, stated: The successful implementation of electronic medical records will help the hospital improve the quality of treatment, strengthen risk management, minimize errors in drug use, ensure a safer prescription-dispensing-use process, reduce medical incidents, save treatment costs, improve the efficiency of patient information management, reduce administrative procedures, meet the standards of the Ministry of Health, JCI, etc., and enhance the reputation and quality of medical examination and treatment services.
From the patient's perspective, with the registration procedures, all operations can be performed using automated systems and guidance. Patients can easily look up and track results, update their health status via a mobile app, and shorten waiting times for examinations and treatments.
Patients experience greater safety when taking medication and achieve higher treatment effectiveness; this, in turn, increases trust in the medical team and the quality of the hospital.
