K Hospital discovered 10 positive cases of Covid-19
On the morning of May 7, the Hanoi Department of Health announced the results of screening 123 samples at the Tan Trieu branch of K Hospital, and found 10 samples positive for nCoV.
123 samples were collected by K Hospital from patients, relatives and medical staff of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at facility 3 in Tan Trieu on the evening of May 6. The test results showed 10 positive samples, including 6 patients and 4 relatives.
These cases have not been recorded by the Ministry of Health and are considered suspected infections.
Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh and Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan are present at K Hospital to direct the fight against Covid-19.
Deputy Minister Thuan said that epidemiological investigation determined that among the 10 positive cases, there was a patient who had been treated for a month at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, then returned to the K Hospital and infected 5 other patients and 4 family members.

From 5:30 a.m. on May 7, K Hospital temporarily stopped accepting patients, did not allow patients to be discharged, isolated each department and room, and implemented a no-entry and no-exit policy at all three facilities. At Tan Trieu facility alone, the hospital has about 1,400 inpatients.
K Hospital has three facilities, including No. 1 in Quan Su, Hoan Kiem District; No. 2 in Tam Hiep, Thanh Tri District and No. 3 in Tan Trieu, Thanh Tri. The hospital specializes in examining and treating cancer patients nationwide.
From May 6 to 8, more than 2,000 medical staff and workers at K Hospital were screened for Covid-19.
