Nghe An Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital: Dedicated to the well-being of patients.
(Baonghean.vn) - During the Lunar New Year celebrations, the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital received a large number of patients for treatment, including some very serious cases that were promptly treated by the hospital's doctors and nurses, saving the lives of the patients.
On February 23rd, during a freezing night, staff at the Nghe An Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital received and treated a large number of patients, with all the beds in the Intensive Care Unit fully occupied... Many patients in the unit were coughing up blood, including Nguyen Dang Chung, 34 years old, from Vinh City, a very serious case.
Blood transfusion for emergency patient.
According to the patient's family, at home, Mr. Chung coughed up about 100 ml of fresh blood. He was brought to the emergency room at 11:30 PM. The emergency room staff that day included Dr. Minh, Dr. Luu, and nurses Ha and Dung. They determined this was a very serious case, as he was in his eighth month of treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis (treatment regimen 2). The patient was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in a critical condition. On February 23rd and 24th, 2013, the patient received hemostatic treatments (including deep sleep), but whenever he became drowsy, he would cough up large amounts of blood. It is estimated that the patient lost approximately 1200 ml of blood in three days, and was in a state of severe blood loss. Given this situation, the hospital leadership promptly directed the on-call teams to provide the patient with the best possible care. Throughout the day and night, doctors and nurses are constantly on duty by the patients' side. Their shifts are very challenging due to the large number of serious cases and the high volume of patients.
With unwavering dedication to the patient, on the morning of February 25th, the hospital leadership held a hospital-wide consultation regarding patient Chung's case and determined that urgent blood transfusion was necessary to save the patient. Given the hospital's lack of blood on-site and the potential life-threatening risks of transferring the patient to a higher-level facility, Director Dau Minh Quang immediately agreed on a plan during the consultation to send a team of specialists, led by Deputy Director Dr. Nam, to the Provincial Friendship General Hospital to request an emergency blood supply.
Thanks to timely care and blood transfusions, critically ill patient Nguyen Dang Chung is gradually recovering. His family is deeply moved by the compassionate hearts of the medical staff here – a specialized hospital with extremely difficult and challenging working conditions, yet the doctors and nurses here have not shied away, shining brightly with medical ethics, always wholeheartedly dedicated to their patients, just as Uncle Ho taught: every medical professional must be both dedicated and professional, "a good doctor must be like a loving mother."
