Accordingly, the Hospital has focused on investing in advanced and modern medical equipment; serving medical examination and treatment such as: Gene Xpert machine (technology to detect tuberculosis early within 2 hours); Culture technique to find tuberculosis bacteria within 1-2 weeks using BACTEC MGIT 320 and 960 machines; Fully automatic biochemical system; Automatic blood gas and electrolyte analyzer; Cytological specimen cutter; Digital high-frequency X-ray machine; 3D, 4D ultrasound machine; Invasive and non-invasive ventilator system; 16-slice CT scanner system; Flexible endoscopy system...
The hospital's infrastructure has also been invested in, built and upgraded to be spacious and suitable for use.
To meet the comprehensive development, the Hospital prioritizes the development of high-quality human resources; has continuously sent staff for training, aiming to foster human resources to meet professional and technical requirements in the new period; actively deploys and develops new professional techniques.
In May 2018, the People's Committee of Nghe An province agreed in principle to make Nghe An Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital a satellite hospital of the Central Lung Hospital. From here, some techniques will be transferred, in the immediate future, the Laboratory Department will receive the technique of culturing and making antibiotic susceptibility tests of tuberculosis bacteria on the MGIT-BACTEC machine. Currently, the Hospital has been preparing in all aspects to receive this technique in the near future. Becoming a satellite unit of the Central Lung Hospital will contribute to improving the professional capacity and ability to provide high-quality specialized medical examination and treatment services for people in the area of Nghe An Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital, reducing overload for upper-level hospitals.
Thanks to that, the efficiency and quality of medical examination and treatment of the hospital are increasingly improved.
In the first 6 months of 2018, the number of patients examined and treated at the Hospital reached over 19,300 people, an increase of over 3,000 patients compared to the same period. Along with focusing on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, the Hospital always promotes emulation movements, implements good medical ethics, pays attention to waste treatment, environmental sanitation; creates a green, clean and beautiful landscape.

Tuberculosis control work is maintained in 100% of districts and communes in the area, and the tuberculosis control network continues to be consolidated. The province's tuberculosis control program has achieved positive results such as: Expanding the application of advanced techniques in diagnosing tuberculosis and drug-resistant tuberculosis; applying the process of managing and treating patients with pre-extremely resistant and extremely resistant tuberculosis with individualized regimens; The rate of detection and preventive treatment for children exposed to the source of infection achieved high results; All professional performance indicators were recorded by the National Tuberculosis Control Program.

In 2017, in Nghe An, the sputum testing rate/population remained high at 1.4%, an increase of 0.28% compared to 2016. The number of tuberculosis patients of all types admitted for treatment was 2,604, down 8.7% compared to 2016. The number of tuberculosis patients with bacterial evidence was 1,304, down 9.3% compared to 2016. The number of tuberculosis patients tested for HIV reached 96.5%. Indicators for screening exposed children and preventive treatment increased, the total number of pediatric tuberculosis patients decreased by 48% compared to 2016. The cure rate reached 90%, the rate of treatment dropout without follow-up was less than 1%.
Successfully implemented the second national tuberculosis epidemiological survey in 3 districts: Nghi Loc, Anh Son, Cua Lo town, achieving the indicators required by the National Tuberculosis Control Program.
In the first 6 months of 2018, the total number of tuberculosis patients detected was 1,137 patients. Of these, 591 patients had bacteriological evidence of tuberculosis. The cure rate was 90%.
Promoting the achieved results, Nghe An has set out key tasks to overcome difficulties and improve the effectiveness of TB prevention and control: Continue to strengthen the TB prevention network, improve the effectiveness of operations at all levels; promote disease detection and diagnosis, increase the rate of sputum testing/population; effectively implement patient recruitment, treatment management and HIV screening and testing consultation for TB patients; strengthen propaganda to raise awareness for all people to understand the disease, fight stigma, and the benefits of early access to health screening services.
Targets set for 2018: sputum testing rate/population reaches 1%; treatment cure rate over 90%, treatment dropout rate under 0.85%; HIV testing consultation for tuberculosis patients over 90%.../.
